At the very beginning of 2015, before we decided to travel for a year, we had saved up over 500,000 miles & points between several different programs. We got really serious about earning miles in the beginning of 2015 after deciding to travel full time in 2016. Between the two of us, we earned over 1.2 million miles and points in 2015 alone. Below is a detailed spread sheet of exact which credit cards we applied for to earn these points. Additionally, I’ve added the corresponding application date, as well as the minimum spending requirement needed to earn the sign up bonus. In addition to earn the sign-up bonuses listed in the tables above, we also earned miles & points from meeting the minimum spending requirements and every day spending. I have also earned miles & points through business spending. I put as many expenses as possible on my business credit card. Over the last two years, I’ve earned approximately 300,000 miles & points from business spending. Lastly, I earned a large chunk of American Airline Miles by going on a CRAZY 92,000 mile mileage run! In totally, the mileage run netted me 313,000 AAdvantage miles.
